On Saturday eight SACsters and friends gathered at the Thielsen View campground at Diamond Lake to prepare for an early start Sunday on Thielsen. Present were John Coyier, Joanna Picchi, Ed Millis, Ed Gilman, Bob Wagner, Judith Haavas, and Rich and Dana Margosian. Saturday evening clouds relinquished their gloomy grip and Sunday dawned clear and cool as we hit the four mile approach trail at 5:00 am. We were all at the summit notch by 10:00. We set a fixed rope and scampered to the top where the view was all we could ask for - from Rainier to McLaughlin.
After a relatively quick descent back to the camp folks packed up and headed out for the most dangerous part of the climb - the drive back to the valley. All negotiated the roads safely and were home before dark. Thanks to all who participated - it was a fun weekend.
