Peter climbed the South Sister when he was eight. Benjamin, now nine, had yet to do so. Peter agreed to a be-back to give Benjamin the opportunity to even things up. We spent four days on the mountain. The low camp was at 6,800', the high camp at 8,350'. On the third day we climbed to the summit and returned to the high camp for a second night there. On day four we hiked out to a lunch of pizza in Sisters.
We never woke to an alarm, never hit the trail before 8:45, never even had to melt snow for water. Mostly we enjoyed an easy camp life and the view from the fabulous high camp, one of the better places I have had the pleasure to spend a few days relaxing.
