Hi SACsters,
This past weekend, SACsters Rich Margosian, Dana Margosian, and Doug Adair, along with Todd Wonder, Mark Williams, and Chemeketan Steve Dougherty, skied around Crater Lake. Blessed with fabulous sunny weather and, after overcoming a bit of ice Friday morning, near perfect snow conditions, some of us were actually skiing in shorts by Saturday. The Saturday night bivy on the very edge of the rim at Sun Notch was simply as good as it gets. All agreed this trip was an "11"! Thanks, Rich, for great logistics & weather forecasting - look forward to a few of your photos.

Fellow SACsters,
Last Friday morning, after spending the night in a cabin at Union Creek, six of your fellow SAC members and friends drove to the rim of Crater Lake, and started out on a three day ski jaunt around the rim. Our party consisted of SAC members Doug Adair, Rich and Dana Margosian, Chemeketan Steve Dougherty, and friends Todd Wonder and Mark Williams. The weather cooperated by giving us three sunny, warm days. Lots of snow pack, only two other skiers making the circumnavigation and nearly perfect ski conditions made this a tough act to follow.
The first day we put on 12 miles, with only one short technical section on the Watchman. The first night we camped in the woods, about 100 feet from the rim. Raspberry crumble and pear brandy made dinner a well rounded meal. The second day saw another 12 miles (and more sunshine) and an interesting technical section under the Dutton Cliffs that Steve boldly led. This evening, however, we elected to camp immediately on the rim at Sun Notch, promising ourselves to be careful with the night time nature calls. Again, great food and even more raspberry crumble.
Day three involved more sunshine, a mostly downhill 6 mile trip out to the cars. Question - How can we top this?
Rich
