Intro to multipitch at Smith Rock (full waitlist open)November 21 to November 22, 2026 Coordinator: Noel Tavan Introduction to Multi-Pitch Climbing (Weather Permitting)This weekend is designed for climbers who are familiar with single pitch climbing (gym or outdoor) and want to learn the fundamentals of multi-pitch climbing, have experience and improve their efficiency on longer routes and help assist and lead a team, or simply spend a weekend climbing at Smith Rock. The primary plan is to climb at Smith Rock State Park. If weather conditions are unfavorable, we may change locations to find better climbing conditions. Participants should be comfortable top-roping in the 5.6–5.8 range. Previous lead climbing experience is helpful but not required. During the weekend, we'll focus on topics such as:
Depending on the group's experience and objectives, we'll spend the weekend practicing these skills while climbing a variety of classic Smith Rock multi-pitch routes. Travel & CampingWe'll most likely camp at Skull Hollow Campground or the Smith Rock Climber's Bivouac, depending on availability and conditions.
