Alpine Academy (Lecture): Crevasse Rescue (Part 2) Tuesday 6/16/26 (full - waitlist open)

When: Tuesday 6/16/26 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Where: SW Portland (near Zoo) - location will be shared with Participants

What: This is meant to be a continuation of Mountain Climbing School. This is the 3rd lecture of the Snow & Ice series of indoor workshops geared towards teaching all the skills needed to climb outside, starting with top rope basics and working up to alpine multi-pitch ice climbing.

We will be covering the following:

-Understand critical steps during crevasse rescue

-Understand how to construct basic mechanical advantage systems that can be used to haul a fallen climber out of a crevasse

-Be familiar with the gear generally used in a crevasse rescue

Who: Anyone who is interested in learning new skills to go climb safely outside, refreshing/reinforcing existing skills or wanting to help others by sharing their experience. Priority will go to club organizer/assistant.

Required Equipment (each participant): 1- Harness, 2 x Non-Locking Carabiners, 4 x Locking Carabiners, 2- 120cm Sling, 2- Personal Prusik, , Favorite snacks and beverage to share
Optional Equipment (each participant): Optional: 1 MicroTraxion or SPOC, Optional: 1 Tibloc, Optional: 1-coredelette for anchor material (~20ft),
