Alpine Academy (Lecture): Crevasse Rescue (Part 2) Tuesday 6/16/26 (full - waitlist open)June 16, 2026 Coordinator: Noel Tavan Excursion Time: 3 hours (car-to-car) When: Tuesday 6/16/26 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Where: SW Portland (near Zoo) - location will be shared with Participants What: This is meant to be a continuation of Mountain Climbing School. This is the 3rd lecture of the Snow & Ice series of indoor workshops geared towards teaching all the skills needed to climb outside, starting with top rope basics and working up to alpine multi-pitch ice climbing. We will be covering the following: -Understand critical steps during crevasse rescue -Understand how to construct basic mechanical advantage systems that can be used to haul a fallen climber out of a crevasse -Be familiar with the gear generally used in a crevasse rescue Who: Anyone who is interested in learning new skills to go climb safely outside, refreshing/reinforcing existing skills or wanting to help others by sharing their experience.
