Jeff Herd, Larry Eisenbach and I headed up Hood Sunday. We left the parking lot at 6:45 a.m. already enjoying the day's first light. Larry and I separated from Jeff at about 7,000'. Jeff ended up calling it a trip at the top of Palmer. Larry and I headed up to Crater Rock and enjoyed a relaxed lunch out of the wind. The wind meter at 7,000' recorded average wind speeds in the 30s with gusts in the 50s. But it was windier higher on the mountain. After an hour lunch, we descended back into the wind and were back to the car at 2:40 p.m. with the summit waiting for another day. The attached photo was taken by Larry.
