Mt Hood Leuthold

May 1 to May 2, 2026

Summit Altitude: 11000 feet
Elevation Gain: 6000 feet
Round-trip Distance: 7.2 miles
Excursion Time: 12 hours (car-to-car)

We're going to attempt Leutholds if the conditions look good, but may reschedule or cancel. Participation will be limited by rope teams/leaders and may max out at one rope team of four depending on the team. Participants will need to have rope team skills, self arrest and self belay skills, and experience climbing the southside route on Hood or equivalent.

Equipment
Team Equipment: rope, first aid kit, emergency shelter , "Nicole Rules" stickers to stick on other climber's packs, in reach
Required Equipment (each participant): harness, helmet, crampons, mountain boots, ice axe, climbing essentials (carabiners, belay device and prussiks), mountain essentials (headlamp and batteries, personal first aid kit, sun protection, appropriate clothing and food and water, pack), individual first aid kit, sense of humor, patience for poor route finding
