Glacier Peak - Disappointment Peak Cleaver (Cool Glacier)July 4 to July 6, 2025 Coordinator: Noel Tavan Summit Altitude: 10541 feet Elevation Gain: 10000 feet Round-trip Distance: 30 miles Very good level of fitness is required (see trip data). Comfort with personal equipment on multi day trip is also a must before attempting this trip. We will be roping up and traversing glaciers. Experience travelling in rope team and crevasse rescue techniques required. Priority will go to SAC members (in good standing) and SAC climb school graduates. If I don't know you or if you have questions, please email me your climbing resume at noel.tavan@gmail.com. I expect the trailhead and campsites along the route to be busy on this holiday weekend. The plan is to start early to beat the crowd if possible. We may need to be flexible with our plans. In other words, hiking longer to the next camp or possibly turning around early. GETTING THERE From Darrington, drive south on the Mountain Loop Highway. After about 10 miles the road turns to gravel. Follow the gravel road another 8 miles, then turn left onto Sloan Creek Road. Drive for 6.6 miles, take the left fork and continue a short distance to the North Fork Sauk River Trailhead (2,050 ft). ROUTE: https://caltopo.com/m/T1SCR Highly recommend to drive the Thursday July 3rd after work so we can have an early start Friday. Plan is to be back home late Sunday.
