Mount McLoughlin Skimo

April 12, 2025

Coordinator: Nicole Becker

Summit Altitude: 9499 feet
Elevation Gain: 4395 feet
Round-trip Distance: 11 miles

Mt. McLoughlin is the 12th highest Cascade peak in Oregon (9495') with views of Shasta, Lassen, and Thielsen and is a non-technical climb. This peak is located east of Medford and very near the Upper Klamath Wildlife Refuge and canoe trail and is the highest peak between Mt Shasta and South Sister.

Weather and avalanche conditions permitting, we will be travelling on skis and splitboards. Prior completion of an AIARE I is a requirement.

Plan is to drive down Friday evening and head out early Saturday for the summit. I will probably plan to camp nearby Saturday night after the climb/ski.

More details forthcoming.
