Mt. Washington, North Ridge

October 12 to October 13, 2019

Coordinator: Andy DeGregorio

Summit Altitude: 7794 feet
Elevation Gain: 3000 feet
Round-trip Distance: 9 miles
Excursion Time: 14 hours (car-to-car)

The purpose of this climb is not just to serve as a back up in case of bad weather for the September Mt. Washington climb, but more importantly, to ensure that our club's heart and soul, Byron Kellar, has a chance at this peak this year. We'll spend Saturday night at big lake hopefully with a campfire! Then we'll start in two groups, one well before dawn and the other at daybreak on Sunday with the aim of getting up and down with plenty of time. Campsites are $24 a night, extra vehicles are $8. Camping is optional, but if you decide not to camp make sure you arrive by 5:30am, I don't want any one "catching up" from the trailhead, it's important we stick together for everyone's safety. We'll take the PCT to the north ridge, attempt the summit, then return the way we came.
