 Activities  Mountain Climbing Instruction

Half Hood

May 11 to May 12, 2018

Coordinator: Andy DeGregorio

Summit Altitude: 10600 feet
Elevation Gain: 2800 feet
Round-trip Distance: 6 miles
Excursion Time: 7 hours (car-to-car)

We met at midnight and set off from the windy parking lot, 2 of our group were skinning and the rest of us were on foot. The higher we got, the windier it got and the bigger the cloud looked over the summit. Our skinners decided coming down was getting sketchy, and as a team we determined even though we weren't quite halfway, we didn't need to tempt a white out. We all checked back in together at the climbers hut the same time, and are hoping for a better weather window next week.
