Hi Nathan (or whomever!) I'll be meeting you soon at Basic mountaineering course. I would Love to summit Hood however I have NO experience what so ever with mountaineering. I do a lot of hiking and backpacking and rock climbing, but not mountaineering. I wanted to be very upfront :) so you could let me know if this is even an option for me. Thanks!

Nathan answers:
Kara, We'll talk about just that at climb school. Hood is definitely realistic for you this season.

Mark (leader) says:
Mark Barnard here, if you have signed up for the climb you should have received an email from me. Please read my concerns and ideas, and post your ideas in the Forum here. Thanks

Miranda answers:
I dot not receive an email yet.

Mark (leader) answers:
send me your email address to me (email hidden)

Miranda answers:
I sent you an email

Dave says:
Hi Mark. I would be able to climb on June 9, 10, or 16. Looking forward to it!

Anthony says:
Mark, I could also climb on 9, 10, or the 16th. Excited for this climb!

Eric says:
I can climb June 16. Can you recommend a second ice ax? I have a standard BD Raven. Is an ice tool a good choice for the second tool to come down the Old Mazama route?

Dave answers:
Eric, I personally climb with a Grivel AirTech Evo (53cm) and a Petzl Quark tool. This combo worked well form me on the Kautz route last summer. I'm 5'9" I prefer an axe with a bend in the shaft. The Petzl Summit Evo is also a solid axe. No need to splurge on a tool unless you see more ice climbing in your future.

Sriharish says:
Hi Mark! I can climb on June 9 or 10, but will not be able to climb on the 16th.

Julio says:
Mark, either June 9/10 or 15/16 work for me if i make the cut!

Wendy says:
Hi Mark, thanks for leading the team and trying to make it possible for everyone. I can climb on 9th/10th or 16th/17th. Looking forward...

Mark (leader) says:
If some of you are wondering about a second ice ax, don't go out and buy one, any ax will do. its nice to have one be a little shorter but any standard ax will be fine. I have some extra axes i will bring (4) Ask around see if you can barrow one. I'm getting several thumbs up on a June 9/10 climb. Give me more feed back....thanks

Mark (leader) says:
Hey Group, I'm seriously thinking of moving the HOOD climb up to June 9/10. I will talk to some possible assistant leaders and make my decision this weekend after the Rock climbing at Smith Rock Stay tuned

Lauren answers:
Hi Mark, I'm no longer able to come. Sorry. Hopefully this will free up some space.

Mark (leader) says:
sorry my computer had a brain fog.

Miranda says:
9/10 and 16/17 both work for myself and Sam Koehn

Sam answers:
Does anyone have extra ice axes we could borrow for the climb. If not we are happy to rent them.

Courtney says:
I can do June 16/17. How many jokes does it take to summit Mt Hood? Stay tuned to find out...

Shaunessy says:
Hi Mark, I can do either 9/10 or 16/17 but would prefer 16/17. The forecast for June 9/10 is pretty rainy right now. Also, I had the opportunity to summit Hood with SAC last summer. If this climb is full I can probably join up with a smaller group at a later date!

Noël says:
Mark, can you keep me in the email chain if you still need an assistant.

Yukti says:
Hello, I am looking to join this climb. I see on my side "signups are not open yet'. Please let me know if there is way a can join. i am open to any dates for this one.

Mark (leader) says:
Hey Everyone, if you received my most recent update on the climb you are on the list, if you didn't I'm sorry, it is a big group and we can only take so many and be in compliance with the Forest Service, Mt Rescue.... The weather is the big question, not looking very good Stand bye! Mark
